Welcome to our web site!

We are a group of concerned members who do not like the direction our local is going in and we believe a change in leadership is the only thing that will help fix the mess we are in.
UPDATED 7/27/08:

GREAT NEWS!!!   WE HAVE JUST BEEN TOLD THAT TOM BRUNO, WILL RUN FOR THE OFFICE OF PRESIDENT OF CWA LOCAL 1040!

His announcement comes after a long period of persuasion.  Tom has always been a fighter and has a long history of fighting for Union members.

Last week, we arranged to have our website migrate to his.  We will leave this website up, but all comments should go to Tom at
http://TomBruno.org or to cwatbruno@aol.com, which is his email address.   Tom has asked that we run a more positive campaign.  He has agreed to use some of our material on this website, but he has indicated that his website will be more "campaign" oriented.

CAROLYN WADE IS NAMED PERSONALLY IN A LAWSUIT, THEN  ASKS LOCAL 1040'S EXECUTIVE BOARD FOR MONEY FOR AN ATTORNEY BUT MISLEADS THEM BY TELLING THEM LOCAL 1040 WAS NAMED IN IT!!

SOUNDS LIKE A CHARGEABLE OFFENSE TO US... MISAPPROPRIATION OF UNION FUNDS!

Carla Katz, President of CWA Local 1034 has named Local 1040, Carolyn Wade PERSONALLY, and several other Locals' Presidents and the International union in a lawsuit.  While the specifics were not told to the Executive Board (Wade wanted them to give her a blank check to pay for her own defense), we have learned that the law suit has to do with Carolyn Wade's alleged unprofessional comments made about Carla Katz in newspaper interviews and in correspondence sent to CWA members during, and since, the contract negotiations.

Can we REALLY afford 3 more years of Carolyn Wade??

NEWS FLASH:  WE WERE LIED TO!  WE WERE TOLD DURING THECONTRACT RATIFICATION THAT THE THREATS TO OUR BENEFITS AND PENSIONS WERE ALL RESOLVED AT THE BARGAINING TABLE.  ON 6/23/08, THE LEGISLATURE PASSED A BILL TO STRIP AWAY LINCOLN'S BIRTHDAY AS A HOLIDAY, TO RAISE THE THRESHOLD FOR PART TIMER EARNINGS (from $1,500 to $7,500) BEFORE BEING ELIGIBLE FOR INCLUSION IN THE PENSION, AND TO RAISE THE RETIREMENT AGE TO 62 FOR NEW HIRES...THIS COMES AFTER WE ALREADY AGREED TO RAISE IT 60 JUST LAST YEAR AND LOST THE DAY AFTER THANKSGIVING DUE TO OUR UNION LEADERS BLUNDER AT THE TABLE!

THE LONGER CAROLYN WADE STAYS IN OFFICE, THE MORE EXPENSIVE IT BECOMES FOR ALL OF US!

PLEASE CHECK OUT OUR "SCARY FACTS" PAGE NOW FOR A LIST OF WHAT CAROLYN WADE'S LEADERSHIP HAS COST US SO FAR, AND WHY WE NEED TOM BRUNO!

Governor Corzine's early retirement incentive will be a disaster for NJ.   Need more info?  Click here.

Next... if you are one of the hundreds of state workers in CTS titles or HCTS titles and thought that your upgrades would finally be given after a 20+ year wait because of the "new contract language" that put a 180 day deadline to the process, forget about it... unless you want to put stock in Wade's latest effort to boost her sagging campaign by sending out a memo stating she's "working on the title upgrades."  Does it sound familiar???  She's ALWAYS working on it...it just never gets done!

At the Local's Executive Board Meeting on April 28th, 2008, Carolyn Wade made a stunning revelation... She heard that the State created a Senior CTT title which she then said was a good sign that the HCTS/CTS upgrades would be forth coming.  Unfortunately, she is about 4 years behind.  AFSCME negotiated both the Sr. CTT and the Sr. LPN title in their 2003 to 2007 contract and the titles were created effective July 1, 2004.  Why it took 4 years for President Wade to find out about the titles (that she now thinks she can try to get placed under CWA) is as big of a mystery as why we still have no resolution to the "essential staff" designation after 5 years and two contracts AND no Unfair Labor Practice charges filed against the State for bargaining in bad faith.

The Open Enrollment period for the new State Health Benefits Plan is closed.  State workers who are currently enrolled in the Traditional Plan or NJ Plus were AUTOMATICALLY transferred into NJ Direct 15 unless you opted for one of the two HMO's being offered (Cigna or Aetna) instead.  More information is available here, but if you were looking for that "nationwide" coverage that Carolyn Wade kept telling everyone about, forget it.  It doesn't exist in NJ Direct 15.  Just another lie to get us to vote for a lousy contract with health care givebacks too numerous to list!

In fact, if you are looking for information about how the new contract will effect you, look no further than a page called "DISSECTING THE 'GOOD' DEAL."  It is dedicated to showing you the pro's and con's of the new contract that Carolyn Wade insists is such a good deal for our members!

We need to resurrect this local into the cutting edge, ahead of the curve, mighty force that it once was.  To do this, we need your help and new leadership.  Let's take our rightful place back at the head of the table.
